General information & Audition Expectations

Documentation
Complete audition packets are required in order to audition. Students without complete audition packets will not be permitted to audition.

Please review this packet in its entirety. Carefully consider your availability and ability to commit to a rigorous rehearsal process. The success of this production is dependent upon the dedication of each individual to the fulfillment their role in this production, both on and off stage.

Your complete audition packet/video submission is due by Monday, August 30th.
Audition Material
All students will prepare and provide a video recording of a musical selection from Aladdin, Jr. MEMORIZATION of this selection is REQUIRED for audition. 
  • Select one of the prescribed musical selections, most appropriate for your voice type and the role for which you desire to audition.
  • Prepare music using the provided sheet music and accompaniment track.
  • While auditions are not required to be choreographed; it is highly recommended that those auditioning make choices regarding the character and lyrics of the given music.

A materials fee will be required of all students cast in this production. Material fees are due no later than 10/1/21. This fee is outlined in your contract and includes costume rentals, a production shirt, and meals provided by the booster club during tech week rehearsals.

Academic Eligibility
Students cast in this year’s production are expected to maintain the highest levels of academic excellence. Acceptance of any role in this production is contingent upon the understanding that any student found academically ineligible at grade check at the end of the 1st Six Weeks will be removed from the company and their role reassigned.


Attendance Policy
Students are given ample notice of scheduled events so that conflicts are minimal. As students continue their quest to be responsible adults and perfect the art of balancing and organizing activities and calendars, it is their responsibility to inform parents, employers, coaches, and sponsors for their responsibilities as they relate to their involvement in the CHS Fine Arts Department Musical. Routine doctor appointments, babysitting, church activities, and/or a student’s job schedule will not serve as excused absences from activities related to this production. Students with more than TWO unexcused from rehearsals, performances, related activities may be dismissed from the cast.

Call Back Auditions
During this process students may be asked to prepare the following elements for further evaluation:
  • Perform additional readings as requested 
  • Learn and perform a selected portion of choreography
  • Revisit any vocal selections directors may wish to hear again
