You are invited to attend the 5th annual BISD All-State Choir Boot Camp being hosted on our campus on prior to the start of this school year. Through this offering we hope to provide all of our students with the tools and resources to meaningfully participate in this year’s audition process.

While many of students at Centennial are familiar with the All-Region/All-State Choir process, there are many if not more that still have questions about learning this music or participating in the auditions. Most importantly, the All-State Choir Audition Process is one of the most significant ways we encourage students in our program to develop their individual performance and singing skills. Through this process, students and teachers meaningfully collaborate to explore refine vocal technique and musical independence.

For those students that are new to this process, this “boot camp” will provide them with the opportunity to learn about the audition process and become familiar with the music they will be required to audition for the Region 30 District and Region Choirs. Through this opportunity students will engage with their peers and we equip them with the tools to expand their musicianship skills and their confidence as a young singer.

For students that have previously participated in this process, this camp is intended to familiarize them with this year’s repertoire and provide them with insight about how to rehearse and prepare for the first round of auditions. Through a combination of sectional and group learning experiences it is our goal to introduce music for the initial round of All-State Auditions and assist our students with planning how they might best learn more about their instrument and abilities through this process. Regardless of previous experience this camp will be a valuable learning experience and a worthwhile investment of their time.

Information about clinicians will be posted in the coming weeks. Each of these teachers will be accomplished choral educators that have been hired for their expertise and passion for teaching.

Registration begins on Thursday, August 1st at 8:30 AM in the CHS Choir Room. Camp will conclude at approximately 4:30PM, Fridays session will begin at the same time and conclude at 12:30 PM. Cost to students is only $10 (supplies and snack fees fee). While copies of music will available for use, we ask that students who have previously purchased music for All-State bring their personal copies to camp. If you would like your own copies of this year's audition music, packets may be purchased on site at cost. Please make sure you bring a water bottle and pencil as well.
