Choir Announcements & Program Updates
Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Family Members,
It is hard to believe, but we are now in the second week of the final grading period of the school year. Where did the time go? While our year may be drawing to a close, we still a few major events coming up that involve all of our singers. Please make sure you review the information below for important updates regarding student performances, event info, registration deadlines and placement info for 2016-2017.
Festival di Voce @ Dallas Baptist University
This Tuesday, our Varsity Men, Varsity Women, and Varsity Mixed Choirs will be traveling to Dallas Baptist University to compete at Festival Di Voce. This choral contest provides not only valuable feedback to students from highly qualified judges, it also enables our students to experience a wide range of repertoire and performance styles as performed by their peers from across the Metroplex. All eligible students in 2nd and 5th period will need to bring their uniforms with them to school on Tuesday for performance later that afternoon. A letter with detailed uniform and schedule information has been attached to this email for your review. We will leave DBU immediately following the Honor Choir Concert & Awards Ceremony. Students should be back on campus for pick up by approximately 9:00PM.
Centennial HS Choir Goes to the Opera - "The Barber of Seville"
Thursday is our annual trip to the opera. Students that have secured tickets for this event will need to meet in the Choir Room for departure by 5:15PM. Students needing to purchase a box dinner (Chicken Express) for Thursday evening must register their request and submit payment for their order by 4:15PM tomorrow afternoon in order to be included in group meal purchase. Meals are $6.00 each. The opera is schedule to run until approximately 10:00PM. Students will arrive at Centennial HS for pick up by approximately 10:35PM. "Sunday Best” or “Recital” attire is required for this event. Please no blue jeans/t-shirts/tennis shoes for this performance event.
Student Leadership Opportunities
Applications for Student Leadership Teams will be made available to students beginning tomorrow at 8:45AM. Any student wishing to serve in a leadership role (President, Vice President, Historian, Librarian, or Social Chairs) should collect an application and begin securing teacher recommendations ASAP. Applications are due Thursday, May 5th by 4:15PM.
All-State & Senior Scholarships
Seniors, applications for scholarship are due Friday, May 6th. Please take advantage of this opportunity. Applications are available in the choir room. Two letters of recommendation are required for this application.

Show Choir & Chamber Singer Auditions
Auditions for the 2016-2017 Chamber Singer and CHS Show Choir “Shades of Blue” will take place in the very near future. Requirements for audition will be distributed during classes beginning tomorrow morning.
Chamber Singer auditions are open to all CHS Choir Members with at least one year of experience in high school choir. Audition music will be posted one day prior to the audition for students to collect and prepare. Auditions will be conducted in an ensemble format to support the selection of the best overall musical ensemble. Information regarding the audition process and additional requirements for membership will be discussed in greater detail in the audition packet.
Auditions for "Shades of Blue” are open to all choir members in registered at CHS for the 2016-2017 school year. New this year, we will be offering students the opportunity to receive PE credit for their involvement in this extra-curricular ensemble. It is our desire that this course be listed as a 9th hour class in efforts to provide greater flexibility to our students in scheduling elective and advanced academic courses. The official schedule for this group will be determined with the assistance of the counseling staff to support maximum access and participation.
