Good Afternoon CHS Choir Parents and Students!
What a tremendous day of performances by all of our students at UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest today! I cannot fully express to you in writing how proud I am of our students and their hard work. It was a truly rewarding experience for me as a teacher to witness how the commitment of these students bore fruit for each of them in such a positive way. Regardless of the ratings received by our performers, each of them has grown tremendously in confidence and skill. Through their hard work and the the support of our music enrichment staff, our program is primed and ready to reach even greater heights. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and your commitment to growth and musical excellence.
Additional thanks must be expressed to Tamara Garrett, Ruben Romero, Linda Stringer, and Debbie Bertrand for all of their hard work to make today possible. Thank you for your time and commitment to our students.
Dear CHS Choir Families and Students,
The CHS Choir has been given the opportunity to partner with another fine arts organization, Southwest High School Band Boosters, in staffing concession stands at Texas Ranger baseball games. This email is going to families of students who are in grades 9-11 because any Texas Ranger concession fundraising efforts will begin this spring with credits applying toward next school year's choir fees and/or trip (upcoming 2016-2017 school year).
We are excited about an opportunity that is closer to home than Texas Motor Speedway and will provide a wider range of dates than the fireworks stand from last summer. No formal decisions regarding future fireworks stands have been made at this point, but we wanted to be sure families know of this more flexible option being offered through SWHS Band Boosters and the Texas Rangers.
If you are interested in participating in this endeavor, then please see the attached document regarding TABC details and adult certification training dates. Volunteers who attend one of the Metroplex Sportservice sessions listed in the document will be able to do so free of charge. Training or certification obtained from other sources would be at the volunteers' personal expense, so please consider taking advantage of one of the free classes should you be interested in working in a concession stand at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
In order to sign up for one of the training dates please complete our Google Form here http://goo.gl/forms/ixzEmG1PqC so that we can forward your information to SWHS Band Boosters and secure your registration in the classes. We need to know your name, date(s) you can attend, and number/email where you can be reached. The TABC training is for adults over the age of 21, but students who receive this email can forward the information to parents as needed. Please take note that the dates are all coming up very quickly in March. Specific information regarding the concession stand details will be forthcoming.

CHS Choir Booster Club
Greetings Choir Parents & Students,
What an outstanding week of music making last week. Students in each of our ensembles have been hard at work. It has been incredible to see them grow through the study of challenging choral repertoire and develop meaningful relationships with their peers through performance.
Butter Braid Fundraiser
All Butter Braid Fundraiser Orders are due TOMORROW. All paper order forms and monies should be returned to school tomorrow to ensure timely processing of all orders. Students may assist with the ordering process by tabulating their orders and entering them online through their CHARMS account. This will not only help us with timely ordering of products but also the posting of profits to student accounts. Please make any checks payable to the “CCBB.” Delivery of products will occur on March 9th.
UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest Recital
Tomorrow, February 22nd, students preparing for UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest will participate in special recital performances. This recital experience is a key component in building confidence and self-esteem within our young musicians as they work toward sharing their work with the public and contest adjudicators. Freshmen and Sophomore performers will perform at 6:00PM; Juniors and Seniors immediately following at approximately 7:15pm. Professional Dress/“Sunday Best” is required of all performers. The recital will be hosted in the CHS Choir Room. Please enter the building through the doors behind the stage. We look forward to sharing these performances with you tomorrow night.
UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest is THIS SATURDAY at South Hills High School in Fort Worth, TX. Students have already started to sign up for performance times in the choir room. Contest specific information will be sent home in writing and via email later this week.
Note: Any students with outstanding fees for this contest should secure their accompanist/contest fees ASAP. Checks should be made out to “CHS Choir.”
Varsity Men’s and Women’s Rehearsals
Last week’s rehearsals were extremely productive. Attendance rates have been exceptional and the student’s work ethic, outstanding. Thank you for supporting your student’s attendance at these rehearsals so that we might best prepare for our upcoming district level assessments. Varsity Men will meet TUESDAY from 4:30PM - 6:00PM in the CHS Choir Room
Please note the start and end times have been adjusted to accommodate Kerr/Hughes MS District Choir Assessments.
Varsity Women will meet on THURSDAY from 4:45 - 6:15 in the CHS Choir Room
New Orleans Trip Choir Rehearsal and Final Payments
New Orleans Trip Participants will have their first choral rehearsal THIS Friday from 4:30-6:00PM. We will be introducing musical selections specifically for this performance tour as well as covering important information regarding busing, hotel rooms, uniforms, etc. Please make necessary arrangements to be in attendance for this event. A schedule of all rehearsals for the New Orleans Trip Choir will be sent out by Wednesday of this week.
Note: Final trip payments are now due in full. Those student’s that wish to use points from the Butter Braid sale should email Mr. Cooley or Mrs. Hoagland (email@example.com) with this information to assist us with trip payment reconciliations. If you currently possess fundraiser credits that you would like transferred against any balances owed, please send these requests to Mrs. Hoagland as soon as possible.
REMINDER: Madrigal Festival Preview/Send-Off Concert
On Monday, February 29th the Chamber Singers will be giving a joint concert performance with the Arlington High School, and the Arlington-Seguin High School Chamber Choirs. This performance will be in preparation for each group’s appearance at the 2016 American Classics Madrigal Festival in San Antonio, Texas. This festival is attended by over 40 of the top chamber and madrigal ensembles (mixed choirs of less than 24) from across the state. This is a highly competitive event that is deeply respected for its support of quality musical education and exemplary choral performances among high school choral programs in Texas. This is will be the CHS Chamber Singers first appearance at this event. We hope that you will join us for this feature performance at St. Alban’s Church (911 South Davis Dr.) in Arlington, Texas as we prepare for this event. Performances begin at 7:00PM and are free to the public.

Dear Parents and Students,
We have started the Butter Braids fundraiser. To assist you with your sales, we have activated an extension in your student's Charms account through which you can submit product orders.
When you enter your child’s Charms account, you will now see a "Butter Braid" button at the end of the task bar. Using this link, students can enter their own orders. This will help the Booster Club ensure accuracy as orders are processed and speed the posting of fundraiser points to student accounts.
Please note that we will still collect paper order forms and all payments will still need to be submitted via cash or check to the drop box in the choir room. The Booster Club will have the opportunity to edit the orders should errors be made during the input process.
When you have a moment, please log in to the student Charms account and familiarize yourself with these new screens.
The start date for the sale was February 10, 2016.
The end date for the sale is February 22, 2016
All orders will be delivered on March 9, 2016
