All-State Choir Auditions – Round I Letter

Meet and Warm Up at CHS – 6:15AM
Run Cuts in the Choir Room – 6:25AM
Load the Bus – 6:40AM
Depart for Cleburne HS – 6:45AM
Dress for this weekend’s audition is business casual. One can affect their personal sense of preparation and calm through their personal appearance and choice of attire. Consider this audition to be a musical interview and prepare to put your best foot forward. Men should wear khakis or slacks and a dress shirt or polo. Ladies, professional dress could include pants and a nice top, skirts and blouses, or a dress. Please no t-shirts, blue jeans, or shorts. Students may bring a lunch with them to this audition or they may bring money to purchase a meal on site.
All students must bring original copies of the audition music with them to the audition site. Students will not be permitted to audition with photocopies.
Cell phones and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited during the audition process. Phones must be off and stored away during the contest. Students needing to contact a parent during the day should seek a contest admin for permission to use a phone. Students found to be in violation of this policy may be disqualified or from the auditions.
Things to Bring:
Music: Zadok The Priest (All), What Shall We do with a Drunken Sailor (Men), Ave Maria (WOMEN)
Supplies: Pencils, Paper Clips, Water Bottle, Snack (No Nuts)
Other Items: Homework, a book to read, or a quiet, non-electronic form of entertainment.
Students needing to make alternative travel arrangements from this competition should speak with Mr. Cooley ASAP
Get some rest, stay hydrated, and spend time each day securing details of your performance. This is a challenging process and can be very stressful if you are not well rested. Please be sure that you have secured as many musical details as possible prior to our departure. We are scheduled to arrive back at CHS at approximately 5:30PM. We will begin making phone calls for rides when we are approximately 20 minutes away.
Cuts are released on Wednesday Evening. Sectional opportunities will be made available to all students before/during/after school to assist them with their preparation for this event.
